Miss Jennies School of Dance
All Ages. All Abilities. All Welcome.
Miss Jennies School of Dance was started because we saw a need for a dance studio where everyone could be included regardless of race, age, body type, physical ability, disability, or gender.
We are of the firm belief that it does not matter where you start. If you try, you will improve and hopefully enjoy yourself along the way. We stress a positive body image, discipline and determination, hard work, and compassion for all students.
We teach all styles and focus on proper technique to avoid injury both now and later in life. No trick is worth damaging developing bones and tendons. We do, however, expect each student to give their best at every lesson and we view it as our job to inspire them to want to do so.

Testimonials
What Our Talented Students and Families Say
I am a 66 year old student. I LOVE to dance and have found a dance home/family where I feel welcomed and loved! Miss Jennie has a very loving, generous, and accepting heart. I love the diversity of my dance family. Miss Jennie and her teachers are also great teachers and choreographers.
My daughters have been attending this studio for three years now. I love how the staff genuinely cares for each and every student. My girls participate with tumbling, tap, ballet, singing, and piano lessons with Miss Jennie. My 8 year old had her first year of singing lessons per her request. She stood up and sang in the recital this year. She was nervous but Miss Jennie worked with her and gave her the encouragement to do this and she did so well. I have seen both of my girls excel and their confidence grow so much since they’ve been at this studio. Without reservation, I always recommend this studio to my friends and family.
We have been dancing at Miss Jennie’s for 4 years now! My daughter has done ballet and tap and now tumbling. I actually joined the Adult Jazz class. Miss Jennie and the other teachers are very welcoming and knowledgeable. Also, pricing is very reasonable. If you are looking to try something new or get your kids into dance, I would highly recommend checking out Miss Jennie’s school of dance. They are very inclusive of all people!!
I started taking voice lessons with Miss Jennie three years ago. Not only has my vocal technique and range improved dramatically, but the experience overall has been nothing but warm and welcoming. I've gotten to make friends with the other adults in the studio and look forward to my lessons. Miss Jennie frequently draws from her decades of experience in the local music scene to teach me what I need to know to make my own work as a singer/songwriter sustainable. I can now say I have vocal experience that ranges from folk-punk to Broadway to Opera. Miss Jennie has cultivated an environment that fosters authenticity, community, patience, and creativity for kids and adults alike.
My daughter absolutely LOVED Miss Jennie as her ballet teacher! Miss Jennie & staff are authentic, encouraging & patient! We always feel welcome the moment we walk in the doors! I love that all ages are welcome at the studio, there are classes for everyone, even those with disabilities! Miss Jennie makes everyone feel comfortable & confident no matter what experience you have! I HIGHLY recommend Miss Jennie's School of Dance, if you are on the edge about what studio to choose, you have found the RIGHT one!
I love this woman! Miss Jennie was my dance teacher growing up all the way through high school. I have even been dancing with her again as an adult. The best part now is that my daughter takes dance from Miss Jennie and loves her as much as I do! This studio is perfect for any age. Jennie puts her heart and soul into everything she does and is literally a child whisperer! She has a way of teaching while making it fun all while building your confidence! If you are looking for a new studio, you won’t be disappointed!!

Parent Handbook
Consistent attendance is absolutely necessary for your dancers training, both for flexibility and strength and for training their body to move safely. This is a team sport, we often do partnering activities and formations where dancers space themselves according to the others in their class. This is not possible if people are not there.
We do understand that people get sick and we thank you for keeping them home when that happens. We also allow dancers to do makeup classes when they do have to miss. Your dancer’s teacher can tell you when the makeup class is.
Like any sport or activity, we have a dress code. This is to ensure their safety and success in class.
Girls:
A leotard and tights, with or without a skirt, or leggings and a snug fitting tank top with socks should be worn for all classes. Hair must be pulled back off of their face. If dancers arrive without the proper clothes or without their hair done, they will have to go into the lobby and change or do their hair. We recommend keeping extra socks, ponytail holders and a brush in their dance bags in case this happens. Headbands, jewelry, t-shirts, or sweatpants are not permitted. Pink, split sole ballet shoes, black tap shoes (no buckles please), black pull-on jazz shoes and beige half-sole lyrical shoes are required. Modern and tumbling are done in bare feet.
Boys:
Footed tights or snug fitting sweats or shorts above the knee and snug t-shirts or tank tops and socks should be worn. Baggy clothes or extra long shorts are not allowed. Black ballet shoes and tap shoes, black pull-on jazz shoes or beige half-sole lyrical shoes are required.
We recommend Dancers Pointe in Perrysburg for purchasing shoes. Proper fit is vital, and they are skilled at fitting students. They also have a list of shoe styles that we prefer. If you mention that you go to our studio you will get a 15% discount there as well.
More importantly, after many years of trying, ballet shoes are now available in many different skin tones. If your dancer wishes to have shoes that match their skin tone more closely, we encourage you to get those. Tights are also available the same way and if you would like us to get those for the recital we are happy to do so.
Teachers need to be able to see the placement of the dancer’s body to make sure that they are not developing bad habits in placement. Peripheral vision is vital when learning to turn safely and to avoid collisions.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for any bullying, body shaming or physical abuse towards any student. We do a lot of team building in each class and work very hard to teach and emulate empathy and compassion. Any episode will result in the student’s removal from class and parents will need to come pick them up.
Tuition must be paid at the first class of each month. There is a $5 late fee charged after the first week of classes. You can pay with a credit card, cash, check or Venmo. If you pay with Venmo we will send you an invoice in the last week of each month to remind you that the payment is due. If you have an outstanding balance or still owe costume deposits or balances, anything you pay will apply to those first.
You have the ability to pay ahead 3 or more months at a time and receive a $5 discount for every month that you pay ahead.
Costume deposits are due on November 1st . Costumes are ordered in November and usually received by April. No costume will be ordered if a deposit has not been paid.
Roughly once a month you will receive a Dance-o-Gram with current information such as show times, or any other reminders, etc. that you may need. These will also be available on the website and a reminder will be posted on Facebook when they are ready. As we get closer to the recital it will be every other week as there is a lot of information to get out and small doses seem to work better. If you ever have any questions, you can call or text the studio at 419-351-4677 or ask a teacher when they are free.
